环己烷 Cyclohexane

环己烷（CHX）是无色、透明、易挥发、易燃液体，具有汽油样/温和甜味的刺激性气味，是最简单的环状饱和烃（环烷烃）。几乎不溶于水，与乙醇、乙醚、苯、丙酮等多数有机溶剂互溶。低温（凝固点约 6.5 °C）下为白色晶体。

Cyclohexane (CHX) is a colorless, clear, volatile, flammable liquid with a gasoline-like / mild sweet, pungent odor. It is the simplest cyclic saturated hydrocarbon (cycloalkane). Practically insoluble in water; miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, acetone and most organic solvents. Below its freezing point (~6.5 °C) it forms white crystals.

The molecule exists as 'chair' (most stable, >99%) and 'boat' conformers that interconvert rapidly. Main uses: ~98% for producing adipic acid, caprolactam and hexamethylene diamine (nylon 6/6 monomer feedstock); also as coating/paint solvent, paint remover, fat/oil extraction solvent, chromatography standard, and organic-synthesis solvent (lower toxicity than benzene, often replaces benzene for degreasing).
