异丙醇（Isopropanol，分子式 C3H8O，CH3CHOHCH3）是最简单的仲醇，常温下为无色透明、具乙醇与丙酮混合气味的挥发性易燃液体，能与水、乙醇、乙醚、苯、氯仿等多数有机溶剂互溶，与水混溶（形成共沸物，含 87.7 %（质量分数）异丙醇、沸点约 80.4 °C）。微毒，有麻醉性，主要作用于中枢神经系统。

Isopropanol (C3H8O, CH3CHOHCH3) is the simplest secondary alcohol; a colorless, volatile, flammable liquid at room temperature with a mixed ethanol-acetone odour. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and most organic solvents; miscible with water (forms an azeotrope of 87.7 wt% IPA, bp ~80.4 C). Slightly toxic, narcotic, chiefly acting on the central nervous system.

其主要用途极广：作为有机溶剂用于油墨、涂料、清洗剂（电子/精密清洗、消毒杀菌）、化妆品与医药（外用消毒剂、洗手液、赋形剂）；医药与农药中间体；萃取剂、脱蜡剂、防冻液组分；实验室试剂与色谱分析；也是合成丙酮、乙酸异丙酯等的重要原料。性能上兼具醇的极性与良好的溶解力，对亲油性物质溶解力优于乙醇。

Principal uses are very broad: solvent for inks, coatings, cleaners (electronics/precision cleaning, disinfection/sanitization), cosmetics and pharma (topical antiseptic, hand sanitizer, excipient); pharma and agrochemical intermediate; extractant, dewaxing agent, antifreeze component; laboratory reagent and chromatography; also a key feedstock for acetone and isopropyl acetate. Combines alcohol polarity with strong solvency, outperforming ethanol for lipophilic substances.
