Isopropyl acetate (C5H10O2, CH3COOCH(CH3)2) is the isopropyl ester of acetic acid; a colorless, clear, volatile and flammable liquid with a fruity odor (apple-like when diluted) at room temperature - an important carboxylic-ester solvent and food-flavoring component.

其主要用途包括：硝基纤维素、塑料、油脂、树脂、涂料、油墨的溶剂；医药（抗生素、维生素、激素）萃取剂与工业脱水剂；香料/香精与印刷油墨组分；亦用于有机合成与胆结石溶解研究。性能接近乙酸乙酯，但沸点更低、挥发更快。其蒸气比空气重，属第 3 类易燃液体，须按危险化学品严格管控。

Principal uses: solvent for nitrocellulose, plastics, oils, fats, resins, coatings and printing inks; extractant for pharmaceuticals (antibiotics, vitamins, hormones) and industrial dehydrating agent; fragrance/flavor and printing-ink component; also organic synthesis and gallstone-dissolution research. Performance is close to ethyl acetate but with lower boiling point and faster evaporation. Vapour is heavier than air; Class 3 flammable liquid - strict hazardous-chemical control required.

Managed as Class 3 flammable liquid (medium-flash); explosion-proof lighting/ventilation, no sparking equipment/tools, bond/ground containers and piping against static. Flash point is very low (~2-4 C) - any heat, spark or static discharge may ignite it.

Operators wear solvent-resistant gloves (nitrile etc.), chemical goggles and protective clothing; work in well-ventilated areas; avoid skin/eye contact and vapour inhalation. Eye irritant, inhalation causes drowsiness/dizziness (H319/H336), repeated contact defats/cracks skin (EUH066). Prefer steel, stainless steel, aluminum or HDPE containers; keep sealed, dry.
